Chief Minister Rupani has announced a self-reliant Gujarat assistance scheme to help all small businesses in Gujarat. The application forms for this self-reliant Gujarat Sahay Yojana announced by the Chief Minister to re-employ small businesses, shopkeepers, street vendors, auto drivers and other artisans in the state will be distributed from May 21 (tomorrow) at about 9,000 places across the state.

The bank will decide who will get the loan and who will not
The co-operative bank as well as the credit co-operative society will decide which business will get loan under this scheme and which will not. The loan is for three years, the first 6 months of which will be considered as a moratorium period.
The benefit of this scheme from tomorrow i.e. from 21st May to 31st August, small businesses as well as traders can apply to Cooperative Banks, Credit Co-operative Societies. After the merchant applies for the loan, the bank will have to take a decision on whether he will get the loan by October 31 at the latest. The loan applicant will get an interest subsidy from the government only if his bank account amount is credited by November 15. No fees or charges will be levied.

Forms must be submitted by August 31
In this regard, Chief Minister’s Secretary Ashwini Kumar said that such application forms can be obtained from about 1000 district co-operative bank branches, 1400 urban co-operative banks, and more than 7000 credit co-operative societies across the state. To avail the benefits of this ambitious scheme, only the application form has to be filled and returned by 31st August. No other fees or charges will be levied for this purpose.

Under the scheme, the Chief Minister’s Secretary has given Rs. 10 lakh to small businessmen, artisans, and business people for 3 years. Loans up to Rs 1 lakh would also be given at an interest rate of only 2 percent. He added that the loan would be given without any guarantee and at an interest rate of only 2 percent. Not only that, but no installment is also charged for the first 6 months of the loan.

The Chief Minister has responded well to the appeal made by the Chief Minister to give such loans for a period of 3 years to the beneficiaries at 8% interest. The Chief Minister has also decided that the state government will pay the remaining 6 percent interest to small business owners like barber, laundress, plumber, small grocery shop, street vendor, auto driver, etc. so that they do not have to bear the burden of interest.
