According to the information received from the Union Ministry of Labor, an inflation index is released every month on the basis of which inflation allowance is also given to Central Government employees and pensioners twice a year i.e. in January and July. This allowance is determined on the basis of the Consumer Price Index for industrial workers for the last 12 months and is then calculated.

According to the base year 2021, if the consumer price index for December 2020 is reduced by 8 points, inflation will be 3 per cent and if the index is increased by 24 points, inflation allowance will be given at 5 per cent. But such a decrease or increase in a month is not possible. Due to this, it will be decided to give 4% inflation allowance.
The December 2020 index is said to be released a month later and the new 2016 base year for industrial workers has been implemented from September 2020. The inflation allowance is calculated by converting the old index to the old index of 2.88. This allowance can benefit Central Government employees and pensioners as well as employees and pensioners of many states including UP. About one and a half crore people will get this benefit.
