World Ozone Day is celebrated around the world on September 15 throughout the year. This year’s theme of Ozone Day 2019 is ’32 years and Healing’. The purpose of Ozone Day is to raise awareness for the protection of the return of Ozone. The ozone layer is a layer of ozone molecules that are found in the atmosphere within 20 to 40 km.
The ozone layer works to protect the Earth from the sun’s harmful ultra-violet rays. Without the ozone layer, life can be in danger. Because ultra-violet rays can get very dangerous to humans, tree plants and animals if they reach the ground directly. The protection of the ozone layer is very important in this. The ozone layer does a lot of damage to chemicals made by humans. The ozone layer is thinning with these chemicals. Chemicals emanating from factories and other industries are spreading pollution into the air. The ozone layer is undergoing climate change. The awareness campaign is being launched around the world to protect its security in the face of serious crisis.
Why is ozone day celebrated?
In the year 1985, scientists from the British Antarctic Alliance discovered a large hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic. The scientists found out that it contained responsible chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gas. As soon as countries around the world agreed to ban the use of this gas, the Montreal Protocol was signed on September 16, 1987.
The United Nations General Assembly on September 16, 1994, announced the celebration of International Ozone Day for the protection of the ozone layer. World Ozone Day was first celebrated in 1995. World Ozone Day is celebrated on September 16 every year.
What is the ozone layer?
The ozone layer is a return to the Earth’s atmosphere. The ozone layer protects us from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The Ozone layer was discovered in 1913 by French physicists Faberie Charles and Henri Broughton.
Ozone is a gas composed of three oxygen atoms. Which is found in very small amounts of 0.02% in the atmosphere? At a height of 30-40 km above the ground, 91% of the ozone gas together forms the layer of ozone.
